Preliminary Remarks
Between Rural and Global, Manual, Conventional, and Industrial
Various institutions and organizations began working on housing (1) long ago, with representative architecture not being the primary concern, but rather conventional construction, without taking into consideration the traditional aspect.
Housing under extreme climatic and environmental conditions became the focus of the work, and the opportunity to work practically in other climatic zones (2) was very fruitful. The topic of The Concept of Systems in Construction Technology (3) included the identification of planning principles that fundamentally influence the construction process.
The following section covers traditional, conventional, and industrial housing concepts leading to a Charter of Lahore 2050.

Practical Experience - No Theory Without Practice!
With great gratitude for the opportunities offered by local NGOs, practical experience was gained in rural areas through projects in different countries. These included:
-TTTC (4) in Thatta Ghulamka Dhiroka/ Pakistan,
-CAT (5) in Bamenda / Cameroon,
-TM (6) in Saboya / Colombia.
The purpose was to convert the knowledge gained in the practice to theory as a logical next step at universities by establishing institutes at educational institutions – combined with student visits to our projects, whereby students were also educated about the possibilities of adapted technology in rural areas.
These institutes include:
-IEC at BNU (7) in Lahore/Pakistan
-IAM at BUST (8) in Bamenda/Cameroon
-IdEpeT at UNSFL (9) in Leticia/Colombia.
The experiences and findings were shared in presentations and publications. The FPAC
(9) in Lahore made important contributions via GreenMag and demonstrated a connection between rural manual and urban industrial construction techniques through posters.
Future construction will have to consider operating costs (internal and external), resources, environmental and user-friendliness, and define sustainability and the balance between economy, utility, and usability in the form of an individual environmental footprint. In doing so, the specific practices of the local must be respected within the global.

The question of future construction in today's urban world – overpopulated, overbuilt, and with overburdened infrastructure – requires far-sighted, even ruthless, goals that go against conventional wisdom!
Politics and businesses should utilize their local opportunities; global cooperation must be limited in order to flourish!
The Earth is viewed globally, but it has regional peculiarities, therefore
-Climatic justice (using local means)
-Resource conservation (taking into account the specific characteristics of each region)
-Environmental friendliness (for landowners and residential users)
-User-friendliness (moderate flexibility and mobility for the population)
-must be the maxims of construction!
Present-day showmanship and luxury must take a back seat, aware that all such things will soon become
-Null and void
-nameless
-useless
and not even worth a footnote!
Contrary to prevailing opinion, humans are not infinitely resilient. The problems in megacities completely obscures this reality, and domination and power are the pseudo-goals!
